Are we products of random chance and evolutionary processes? Or were we created by Almighty God?

Humanistic science, denying the existence of God, tries to explain man’s origin by the theory of evolution. This theory stumbles at the first hurdle, for it cannot explain how everything came into being - out of nothing. Evolution can only rob us of the truth about our origin, reason for living, and destiny - for it denies God.

God himself answers our question in the very first line of the Bible: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." God is. God was there in the beginning, and he tells us that he created all things - out of nothing. "... the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." (Hebrews 11:3). Then, in six days, God formed all things into the well ordered cosmos in which we live (Genesis 1).

God carefully explains how, on the sixth day, when everything else was prepared, he created man out of the dust of the earth: "And God said, let us make man in our own image, after our likeness ... so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them" (Genesis 1:26-27). Yes, we are related to the earth, the animals, and the cosmos; for we are creatures of the dust. But mankind is a unique, we are higher creatures. For God created us as rational, moral creatures who exist in a personal relation to the God in whose image we were created. This relation exists as part of our creation - whether we want it that way or not.

God requires of mankind - every single one of us - that we love him with all our heart, and show the reality of that love by serving and obeying him with all our strength.

The person who understands where we came from can see that his reason for living may not be to please self - it is to please God!

We came from God. We must now live for God. We shall one day answer to God.
